Sanding is often used to smooth out layer lines and improve the surface finish of PLA models, especially before painting or other finishing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"hur-man-slipar-pla-pa-basta-satt\"><strong>How to grind PLA in the best way<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"valj-ratt-sandpapper\"><strong><em>Choose the right sandpaper<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Start with a coarse sandpaper (about 150-200 grit) to remove the most prominent layer lines. Then continue with finer grit sizes (400, 800 and up to 1000 grit) to get a smoother surface. Water-based wet sanding at 1000 grit or higher can give an extra smooth finish.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"anvand-cirkulara-rorelser\"><strong><em>Use circular movements<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To avoid obvious sanding marks, it is best to sand in circular motions rather than back and forth. This helps to smooth the surface more evenly and gives a better end result.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"var-forsiktig-med-varme\"><strong><em>Be careful with heat<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>PLA softens at low temperatures (around 60\u00b0C), so prolonged sanding can create friction and heat that can deform the model. Avoid pressing too hard and take breaks when necessary.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"vat-vs-torrslipning\"><strong><em>Wet vs. dry grinding<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Dry grinding<\/strong> works well for initial rough grinding, but it can create a lot of dust.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Wet grinding<\/strong> (with fine-grained sandpaper and a little water) reduces dust and gives a much smoother surface.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-efterbehandling-for-basta-resultat-nbsp\"><strong><em>Finishing for best results<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After sanding, you can apply primer or filler to fill in small irregularities. A primer spray works well before painting.
