3D printed miniature models for Alnarp Cleanwater

We at Rapid Prototyping Solutions were commissioned to develop customized 3D printed miniature models for Alnarp Cleanwater Technology AB. The purpose was to create scale models in 1:8 of their bioremediation plant - a system used for sustainable water purification using natural processes. From drawing to 3D printed miniature models

Alnarp Cleanwater sent us detailed drawings of three different barrels that are part of their system. The task was to transform these into educational miniature models that illustrate the solution in a simple way. We adapted the drawings to work at scale, while simplifying the design to make them easier to understand.

Two of the models had bio-blocks inside, showing the filtration process in the system. On one of the barrels, Alnarp themselves added vegetation on top to emphasize the green, living part of the technology.

Customization of CAD files

In the course of the work, several parts had to be adjusted, as the original drawings did not always fit together in miniature format. The result was three robust and visually clear models, ready to be used in both exhibition stands and presentations for customers and partners.

Miniature models as communication tools

This project clearly demonstrates how 3D printed models can be used as effective communication tools. From digital CAD drawings to physical scale models, a concrete product is created that makes it easier to explain complex technology. The collaboration with Alnarp Cleanwater has also continued after the delivery with complementary parts and updates.

Advantages of 3D printed miniature models

Creating miniature models through 3D printing is a cost-effective method that allows companies to visualize their solutions in a concrete way.
